Brown-Forman will purchase The 86 Company, which is behind premium fast-growing spirit Fords Gin.

Fords Gin uses a mix of nine botanicals, with “a traditional base of juniper and coriander seed balanced by citrus, florals and spices”. It was designed alongside professional bartenders with the ambition of creating a versatile spirit that can be used in cocktails with any ingredients.

Based in New York – with gin distilled in London - Fords Gin is a collaboration between Simon Ford and eighth generation Master Distiller Charles Maxwell of Thames Distillers. Ford and his team will remain part of the building and crafting of Fords Gin going forward.

Lawson Whiting, President and Chief Executive Officer, Brown-Forman, said: “Fords Gin is a unique brand with terrific momentum in one of the fastest growing categories in spirits. We look forward to building Fords Gin into another iconic brand in our portfolio.”

Brown-Forman’s portfolio includes Jack Daniel’s, Woodford Reserve, Old Forester, BenRiach and GlenDronach.
