Nestlé Nigeria has inaugurated a Milo RTD beverage plant in Ogun State, with a capacity of 8,000 tonnes per year.

The new 4.1bn Naira ($11.4m) plant is part of the existing Agbara factory, which has been in operation for 37 years. The expansion will create around 100 additional jobs.

Milo RTD was introduced in Nigeria in October 2017: promoted as being ‘made from the natural goodness of milk, malt and cocoa… providing essential nutrients and fortified with Nestle’s unique blend of vitamins (B3, B2, B6, B12, vit C and vit D) and calcium and iron’.

Milo RTD will be produced in 180ml cartons at the new plant.

Mauricio Alarcon, managing director and CEO, Nestlé Nigeria, said: “Milo RTD complements the existing range of offerings of our iconic Milo brand. It is conveniently packaged to offer the unique Milo taste and meet the nutrition needs of active children on the go.”

Headquartered in Lagos, Nestlé has been present in Nigeria since 1961, and operates three manufacturing sites and eight offices with a total of 2,300 employees. Brands available in the country include Milo, Nescafé, Nestlé Pure Life, Maggi and Golden Morn.
