Ocean Spray expands portfolio with organic & unsweetened cranberry juice launches

Ocean Spray aims to round out its better-for-you portfolio with the launch of two new cranberry juice beverages.

Ocean Spray has launched a line of organic 100% juice blends, along with a “pure” unsweetened 100% cranberry juice drink, in order to tap into a more health-conscious audience.

"By adding organic and Pure (unsweetened) beverages to our line up, we've rounded out our portfolio of ‘good-for-you’ juices and juice drinks," Patrick Cramb, Ocean Spray's director of beverage marketing, said.

"We continue to develop innovative products to deliver the cranberry's healthy attributes in formats that fit the lifestyles of consumers around the world."

The company’s USDA Organic Certified juice blends come in three flavors: cranberry, cranberry apple, and cranberry blueberry. The beverage contains a full serving of Vitamin C and between 100 and 130 calories, depending on the flavor.

Ocean Spray’s unsweetened 100% cranberry juice contains no added sugar, flavors, or preservatives and has 60 calories per eight-ounce serving

Ocean Spray organic juice blends and its unsweetened cranberry juice drinks are available across the US for a suggested retail price of $3.99 and $5.98 per one-liter bottle, respectively.

Demand for 100% juice drinks has waned over the past five years with the US cranberry juice market registering a 10.1% decline in volume sales between 2011 and 2016, Euromonitor data shows.

Cranberry supply has also declined by 6% in the past year to 9.05 million barrels, according to an August USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service report.
