TOUR TETRA PAK'S R&D FACILITY: EXCLUSIVE PHOTO GALLERY
The drive for inclusive design
Lena Lorentzen, professor in industrial design, Mid-Sweden University/Unicum, noted that there would be 2.4bn senior citizens in the world by 2050, and said that 50% of current seniors report difficulties in opening product packaging.
Stressing the need for ‘inclusive design’ to make packaging easier to handle for groups including arthritis sufferers, aging people, women and children, Lorentzen said that 10 of Tetra Pak’s advanced package formats have received independent endorsement from the Swedish Rheumatism Association (SRA) and not-for-profit body Unicum, which supports ‘design for all’.
