Two of the UK’s top banks said they would leave Scotland if a vote for independence was successful, which they revealed just a week before the vote for Scottish independence (September 10).
Lloyds Banking Group, which owns the Halifax and the Bank of Scotland, said it had plans to set up “new legal entities” in England if Scotland were to become independent.
Shortly after, the Royal Bank of Scotland announced similar plans to relocate to London if the Yes campaign were to be victorious.
