Red Bull upsets the…Titanic Heritage Trust – September 2013

Of all the opponents major energy drink brands must face – from crusading politicians to health professionals and concerned parents – the Titanic Heritage Trust has to be pretty low down on the list of likely adversaries.
Nonetheless, the Austrian energy giant managed to arouse the ire of the trust by airing a TV advert - which is supposed to be comic – in the UK, suggesting that the fact that ‘Red Bull gives you wings’ might have been an advantage aboard the doomed liner Titanic.
Red Bull subsequently refused to pull the ad, after the UK Advertising Standards Authority chose to take no action against the brand.
