Acatris, the health ingredients company of the Royal Schouten
Group, has sold the assets and the business of its brewery division
to English firm Lupofresh.

The Royal Schouten Group (RSG) health ingredients company Acatris has sold the assets and the business of its brewery division to English firm Lupofresh Ltd.

Lupofresh, a hop merchant and trader based in Kent, UK, took over all employees of the brewery division on 4 October and will continue the business under the former name "Morris Hanbury". The sale included both Acatris' Belgian and English hop business.

RSG acquired the brewery activities of Morris Hanbury (UK) and De Coninck (BE) in 1999. The divestment of these activities are in line with Acatris' strategy to focus on the markets for food and health ingredients.

Gussy De Coninck, who was the business unit manager for the brewery division, will remain within Acatris as business unit manager for health ingredients Europe and Asia.

Dutch company Acatris was formed earlier this year through the merger of food and health ingredients companies Daminco, Orffa Health & Nutrition, Schouten USA and SoyLife. Key products include Soylife, and the flaxseed supplements, FenuLife and LinumLife.
