European company, Ball packaging, has developed a new can to target fashion conscious consumers. The new can has been developed for the growing ready to drink market.
The new can has been developed for Munsterland brands Eis-cafe and Eas-coc beverages. The can has been produced with a new type of base coat which enables a higher quality of decoration to be applied to the can.
Product innovation appears to be the driving force in the drinks market and this trend is being extended in the product packaging side of the industry.
The improved appearence has been achieved with a high concentration of reflecting pigments to make the product more eye-catching.
Ball Packaging said that with the new base coat the quantity and composition of the varnish and reflecting pigments can be varied to meet the need of the various customer deigns.
Munterland is trying to target the younger more trend conscious consumers, and it is this target group which has boosted sales of ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages to double digit growth rates. In Germany for example the RTD coffee market grew by 20 per cent in 2002.
Slimline cans have been an attractive packaging solution to many company's in the marketing of RTD drinks.
