Danish supplier, Chr Hansen, has launched what is believed to be the world’s first probiotic supplement aimed specifically at 0-2-year-olds in the Baltic states of northern Europe.
In conjunction with a local partner in the Baltic region, Sagitus, the product, LIVEO, comes in sachets to be introduced into infant formula by parents and caregivers.
LIVEO was launched by Chr Hansen in 2007 for kids and adults, but this is the first time it has been marketed at newborns and toddlers.
Each LIVEO sachet contains 500m colony forming units of the probiotic strain, BB-12, with two sachets recommended for consumption every day to deliver immunity and colic benefits.
Chr Hansen said it had, “several new products in the pipeline for the near future.”
