La Colombe Coffee Roasters and Crown Beverage Packaging have launched the MiniVault, pre-portioned ground coffee in a single-use can.

The MiniVault combines Crown’s 150ml (5.1oz) beverage can with a custom 360 End and is filled with La Colombe’s Corsica coffee.

Plans to add more blends

The end is removable so that users can pour 1.3 ounces of coffee into a filter or device for brewing.

Ron Skotleski, director, marketing, North America, Crown Beverage Packaging, said La Colombe recognizes the fact that differentiating a package can add value to a brand.

One of the challenges with ground coffee is people often over-measure, which ultimately wastes the product and compromises its taste and quality," he said.

"MiniVault combats this by providing the exact dose required and keeping the coffee at peak freshness right up until consumption, replicating La Colombe café quality coffee in home brew applications. In doing this, La Colombe also found a way to extend shelf life up to five times.

"La Colombe purposely chose metal cans as the vessel for this product because they are 100% recyclable with no deterioration in quality. In fact, a recycled can has the ability to return back to the retail shelf in as little as 60 days."

The MiniVault cans are wrapped in shrink sleeves, which list directions for brewing the coffee.

It selected Corsica coffee because it is the house blend brewed in all La Colombe cafés, with plans to add more blends in the future.

The cans are sold in 8-count boxes, which feature an open window to view the product inside.

The 360 End features a grind guard, or a thin plate of flexible aluminum, which acts as a food-safe protector and stops coffee grounds from spilling upon removal of the end.

Drat Latte

La Colombe Coffee Roasters partnered with Crown once again following the successful launch of its Draft Latte , crafted coffee drink using Crown’s InnoValve technology, North America, a business unit of Crown Holdings.

Our aim is to change the landscape of coffee through obsessive innovation,” said Todd Carmichael, CEO/co-founder, La Colombe.

We want everyone to be able to experience exceptional coffee. The Vault allows us to bring the best coffee to our home, all while removing the guesswork around measuring, grinding and freshness.”

The MiniVault is available in select La Colombe retail locations across the US and on the company’s website.
