A UK conman has been prosecuted for trying to sell bottles of vodka and whisky that he had refilled with urine and even laced with faeces.

According to local newspaper The Blackpool Gazette, which covers the resort town of Blackpool in Northwest England, Nicholas Stewart attempted to sell the fake bottles to tourists on Blackpool Promenade – some (originally used to package big name spirits brands) contained flat cola but others had urine and traces of human faeces in them.

After being prosecuted by Blackpool Council, Stewart, 35, was sentenced to 70 days in jail, but the term has been suspended for 12 months, which means he’s been released on probation.

Council prosecutor Victoria Stewart told the court that the bottles were laced with urine and faeces, probably to give the ‘whisky’ its color.

“They were totally unsuitable for public consumption – they were hazardous and contained dangerous e-coli bacteria,” she told the court.
