UK supermarket giant Tesco says craft beer is the fastest growing drinks trend in the UK, as it rolls out more craft drinks in its stores this week and trials a chilled beer and cider delivery service.

Demand for craft beer at Tesco has increased by 130% over the last year.

As a result, the supermarket is increasing its range from two craft beers to more than 30 craft beers, across 400 of its high street stores.

Tesco buying manager for beer, Peter Bexton, said craft beers resonate with a new type of discerning younger drinker, thanks to the range of aromas, tastes and artisanal brews.

“We’ve tried to curate a fantastic range, making it even easier for shoppers to find their beer of choice locally, while also helping to attract even more converts,” he said.

Some of the new beers being rolled out in Tesco include: BrewDog - Punk IPA; Innis & Gunn – Original; Sierra Nevada; Blue Moon; BrewDog - Dead Pony Club; and Brooklyn Lager.

Further beers include Innis & Gunn Lager; Fruli Strawberry Beer; St Austell – Korev; Anchor Steam Beer; Flying Dog - Snake Dog; Oskar Blues – Pinner Session IPA; Fourpure – American Pale Ale; Thornbridge Jaipur IPA; Vocation – Life & Death IPA; and Pistonhead – Amber Lager.

Tesco is also trialling a chilled beer and cider delivery service, which is currently limited to customers in South East London, Bromley and Dartford in Kent.
