The Rémy Cointreau Group has announced the closing of the Westland Distillery acquisition, helping expand its portfolio in the fast growing high-end single malt whiskey category.

Based in Seattle, Westland Distillery produces whiskey with ‘a distinctly American single malt style’, with the high-end products in the $70 to $125 price range.

Valérie Chapoulaud-Floquet, CEO, Rémy Cointreau Group, said: “We are confident the Rémy Cointreau Group can help this exceptional brand live up to its potential, by developing it further across the US before expanding it globally in the future.”

Yesterday (Jan 5) Rémy Cointreau also announced the acquisition of 100% of the capital of the Domaine des Hautes Glaces, an organic mountain farm distillery in the French Alps, which produces high-end single malt whiskies. Priced between 65€ and 150€ ($69 - $159) , the products are certified organic and mainly produced using renewable and local energies.

Rémy Cointreau also acquired single malt Scotch whisky Bruichladdich in 2012.
