B.O.M. Brewing is set to expand its operations to the US market this fall where it will tailor its beer to the American palate, according to the brewery’s founder.

B.O.M. (Belgian Original Maltbakery) Brewery is a brewing and malt roasting company located in Bree, Belgium, founded by Bert van Hecke who previously worked for Orval and Rodenbach breweries.

The Belgium-based brewer will launch its brewing operations at the newly-opened Celis Brewery in Austin, Texas, which specializes in Belgian-style ales and will contract brew for B.O.M.

The US brewery will feature a 50 HL Braukon brewing system and 50,000 barrels of production capacity.

Tailoring to US market

Producing in the US will eliminate international transportation costs and allow B.O.M. to tailor its beers for the American palate using specialty malts from Belgium supplied by Van Hecke, the company said.

B.O.M. plans to produce “Americanized versions” of four of its beer varieties including: “Heaven” – the brewery’s first beer, “Hell” with 6.66% ABV and roasted flavor profile reminiscent of coffee, “Full Moon 12” a Belgian beer with 10.2% ABV and malts toasted in-house on Belgian-grown oak, and “Bling Bling Imperial King” which uses malt roasted with 24-carat gold, according to Van Hecke.

Celis Brewery may also package certain B.O.M. products in cans rather than bottles to better fit American consumer preferences.
