UK grocery chain Waitrose has recalled two batches of Brazilian Chardonnay after admitting that the wine contained unlabeled sulfites.

The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced the recall today for lot codes 509571 and 509643, and noted the health risk for those with a sensitivity to sulfites.

According to charity Allergy UK, sulfite sensitivity in the general population is thought to be less than 2%, but rise to 5-14% among asthma sufferers.

In such people sulphites can cause allergy-like symptoms, the most common of which are wheezing, a tight chest and cough.
