Spotlight on new packaging regulation at Foodex

Foodex this year sees a series of seminars on the latest regulation pertaining to third party inspection certification and packaging aswell as new food hygiene initiatives, research and innovation developments in packaging and processing and shelf life evaluation.

The UK industry trade show, which covers the categories of meat and poultry, fish, dairy, fruit and vegetables, drinks, confectionery, cereals, organics and ready meal production, takes place in the NEC Birmingham on 21-24 March.

The organisers said the new developments in equipment and packaging materials on display are informed by the ongoing need to improve production methods while reducing costs, as well as the all-important subject of resource efficiency.

The highly targeted Baking Industry Exhibition (BIE) is being held in tandem with the FoodEx show and two other events, Food and Drink Expo and the Conveniece Retailing Show, they added.

BIE, said the exhibition team, includes the Bakery Live event showing new technologies and ingredients in action, as well as the UK heat of the Louis Lesaffre competition.
