Harald Saelens from Belgian firm Scaldopack tells Ben Bouckley at Brau Beviale about the firm’s innovative self-heating (quicklime) and cooling (salts) packaging for foods and beverages with a flexible twist…

“We’re one of the first companies that really heated up in flexible packaging…and we use very little packaging material,” Saelens tells BeverageDaily.com and FoodProductionDaily.com in Nürnberg.

“Only 15g, which makes for eco-friendly packaging, especially compared to alternatives on the market,” he said.

Saelens added that his firm’s first customer would launch the packaging containing soup in Belgium next year, but that the package could also be used for beverages.
