A multi-million pound contract to undertake infrastructure and good manufacturing practice improvements at the Lucozade, Ribena and Suntory factory at Coleford in Gloucestershire has been won by design, engineering, construction and consultancy firm Clegg Food Projects.

The Lucozade and Ribena drinks brands were sold by GlaxoSmithKline to Japanese drinks firm Suntory for £1.35bn in January 2014, when the company decided to focus on its pharmaceuticals business.

Suntory also owns beverage firm Orangina Schweppes and is one of the world’s largest whisky producers. The factory at Coleford in the Forest of Dean employs around 700 people.

“The factory produces our client’s popular range of bottled soft drinks and we will be undertaking work in the production areas on site,” said Clegg’s business development director John Moxon.

“We have a vast amount of expertise when dealing with these types of projects and are pleased to be delivering the work.”

Extensive internal work will be undertaken to separate construction from the production areas. As part of the work, Clegg will be delivering a new roof along with improvements to building services installations.

“Due to the size of the site, a detailed logistics plan is required to deliver people and materials to and from the project work areas,” added Moxon. “We work dynamically in order to reflect our clients' sales and production requirements.”
