'Unique' Orang-Utang orange-juice soda with cola scoops Anuga award

KDM describes the drink – which took it three years to develop and picked up an ‘Anuga Taste 13’ at this year’s show – as having a “velvet-like tastiness”​, since it combines 50% orange juice with 50% all natural cola.

Orang-Utang (note the play on words with 'tang'), is already on sale in German supermarkets, and is free from colorings, preservatives, phosphoric acid and artificial sweeteners. 50% of all profits are donated to the reforestation of Borneo’s rainforest as a habitat for orang-utans.

“We’re a very small company, and you can only win if you have something really different. We started with pure orange juice…mixed it with cola for a fantastic taste sensation,” ​Dörrenhaus tells BeverageDaily.com.

'Refreshing cola kick'​

“We’ve got rid of the colorings, can kick out the preservatives. There’s no phosphoric acid or artificial flavors,”​ he adds.

The result is a purely natural lemonade with 50% orange juice and a refreshing cola kick, but without the color,”​ Dörrenhaus says.
