The findings, which are based on analysis of 2008 data from British customs officials, reflect an overall saving of £804m (€855.7m) on the British economy based on UK Government alcohol harm calculations, claims the trade group.
The BBPA suggests the falls reflects a consecutive fall in alcohol consumption since 2004. In light of the findings, the trade group said it was calling on the government to resist imposing further ‘punitive’ taxing on alcohol as part of its attempts to protect the country’s pub trade.
