Lucozade blows whistle on UK soccer sponsorship to focus on research

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) brand Lucozade Sport has ended its 20-year sponsorship of UK Premier League soccer as it shifts more funds towards R&D into sports nutrition products, according to Brand Republic.

The advertising, marketing, media and PR website quoted GSK general manager Peter Harding, who said: "We are shifting our strategic focus and will be increasing our investment and research into the impact of nutrition on performance. This will enable us to develop more advanced products."
