Kievit signs creamer deal with Egyptian baby food firm

FrieslandCampina Kievit has signed a collaborative agreement with an Egyptian baby food company for the production of tea and coffee creamers.

Explaining the link-up with Lacto-Misr of Egypt, FrieslandCampina Kievit said demand for premium quality spray-dried ingredients has increased strongly in the region.

Under the terms of the deal, baby food producer Lacto-Misr will produce creamers for FrieslandCampina Kievit. This, it will do from its headquarters 50km north-east of Cairo. Lacto-Misr expects to gain a more efficient supply chain from the deal and benefit from lower landed costs.

Meanwhile, Kievit will take on responsible for the supply of raw materials and marketing, and will also provide access to its technology and distribution network.

The company, which is part of Royal FrieslandCampina, specializes in food and beverage ingredients based on spray dried emulsions, producing around 200,000 tonnes of emulsion annually.

With this latest deal, Kievit expects to further expand existing production capacity. Outside its headquarters in the Netherlands, the company already has production and sales locations in Germany and Indonesia.
