State news reports within Vietnam suggest that drinkers across the country are increasingly turning to home produced rice and corn-derived vodkas over concerns about fake branded alcohol in the country.

Official estimates state that 80 per cent of alcohol being produced in the country is now thought to be homemade vodka, according to the Reuters news agency, citing state-run radio in the country.

The report claimed that high levels of fake alcohol brands within the country have increasingly led to consumers following in the footsteps of lower-income rural workers by making their own alcohol.
