Adding to Zevia’s 15-flavor natural diet soda line, the brand will offer seven new zero-calorie natural flavors of energy and sparkling water.
Zevia has ventured outside its zero calorie soda portfolio with the launch of two new product lines in the US: energy and sparkling water.

“Our experience building the first mainstream zero-calorie, naturally sweetened soda brand has been that consumers are looking for better-for-you versions across the beverage category,” said Paddy Spence, CEO of Zevia.

The energy line, Zevia Energy, and sparkling waters, Zevia Sparkling, launch in July.

From soda to beverage company

The company cited the growing US dietary shift of sugar reduction as being one the reasons it decided to branch out into other beverage categories.

It represents an opportunity for Zevia to offer new beverage alternatives to an increasingly health-conscious consumer audience, the company said.

“We’re looking to address obvious consumer needs as we expand natural diet beverage options – energy with clean ingredients and flavored sparkling water with a bit of sweetness were a good next step,” Spence said.

Zevia currently holds 90% market share of the natural zero-calorie soda market, according to SPINS/IRI Total US Food Data.

Better-for-you energy source

The Zevia Energy drinks all have zero calories, 120mg of caffeine from coffee extract, and are sweetened with stevia.

“We all love the boost we get from caffeine, but current energy drinks on the market are loaded with either sugar or artificial sweeteners, as well as a bunch of exotic supplements,” Spence said.

“It’s a better-for-you option in a category that has not been known for healthy ingredients.”

Zevia Energy will feature single-serve, 12-ounce slim cans in three flavors, mango ginger, raspberry lime, and grapefruit, with a suggested retail price of $1.99 per can.

Sparkling water that delivers on taste, CEO says

The other new line, Zevia Sparkling, is also non-GMO, contains zero calories, and all variants are sweetened with Stevia.

“Flavored sparkling water has become very popular but, for many of us, these unsweetened products just don’t deliver from a taste perspective,” Spence said.

Zevia Sparkling Water, to be sold in eight packs with a suggested retail price of $5.99, will include four flavors: lime, blackberry, cucumber lemon, and mandarin orange.

The company’s soda line currently has 15 flavors that are all non-GMO, certified vegan, kosher, and gluten-free, and are sold in more than 35,000 stores throughout the US and Canada including Whole Foods Market, Sprouts Famers Market, Safeway, Kroger, and Target.

Zevia Energy and Zevia Sparking Water will be available in late July in the US in Sprouts Farmers Markets, Amazon.com, Puget Natural Markets in Seattle, and Woodman’s Foods in Wisconsin.
