Danone says it has completed the sale of its Frucor drinks subsidiary for €600m to Japan-based Suntory.

The deal, completed through the country’s Asian arm, is said to reflect the dairy multinational’s strategy to target its drink operations on mineral and spring water products.

Suntory, a food and beverage manufacturer wishing to actively boost its international presence from its Asian heartlands, will now be responsible for running the drinks group, which is based in both Australia and New Zealand.
