BrewDog offers paw-ternity leave for new dog owners
BrewDog was founded in 2007 by James Watt, Martin Dickie and Bracken, ‘the original Brew Dog’, and the company says that dogs continue to be ‘central to their way of life’.
US employees at the new BrewDog Columbus venture will be among those to benefit from the perk, and BrewDog believes it is the first US company to offer the benefit.
The Puppy Parental Leave will let employees take a working week’s leave on the company when they welcome a new dog into their home.
BrewDog employees are already allowed to bring their dogs to work, and all BrewDog bars are dog friendly.
“Having dogs in our offices makes everyone else more chilled and relaxed – but we know only too well that having a new arrival – whether a mewling pup or unsettled rescue dog – can be stressful for human and hound both,” says BrewDog.
“So we are becoming the first in our industry to give our staff a working week’s leave on us to help settle a new furry family member into their home.
“Puppy Parental Leave will support nervy canines and their owners alike in those all-important first few days.”
BrewDog, the ‘punk’ brewer known for its non-conformist approach to brewing and branding, was founded in 2007 and now employs close to 1,000 people. In 2016 it launched the ‘equity for punks USA’ crowdfunding campaign to fund its expansion in the US.
