Anheuser-Busch InBev will be expanding its high-end craft beer portfolio with the launch of Veza Sur Brewing Co. in Miami, Florida, early this summer.

Veza Sur will be joining other brands in 'The High End', Anheuser-Busch’s division of craft and import beer, established in 2015 and led by Felipe Szpigel.

In-house new brand development

Unlike Anheuser-Busch's past high-end portfolio expansions, which were the result of acquisition deals such as Goose Island and Elysian Brewing Company, Veza Sur is an entirely new brand developed by Anheuser-Busch, Bogota Beer Company in Colombia, and 10 Barrel Brewing (both owned by AB InBev).

In a letter to wholesalers, The High End leadership team said that the origin of Veza Sur dates back to when founders and brothers of 10 Barrel, Chris and Jeremy Scott, traveled to Colombia with Veza Sur’s GM Max-Antonio Burger and visited Bogota Beer Company where they met with the craft brewery’s founder Berny Silberwasser.

Along with the launch of the Veza Sur craft beer, a Miami brewing facility will be built along with a 15-barrel brewhouse and a 5,000-square-foot taproom which will have up to 18 taps serving a variety of “Latin-American inspired” craft beers.

Veza Sur beer will only be distributed by local wholesalers in the city of Miami, the letter also stated.
