AB InBev acquires Camden Town Brewery
Founded by Jasper Cuppaidge, the brewery started full production in 2010. It now has a team of 95 people, selling 12m pints in 2015, with beer available in more than 1,000 pubs. Distribution includes bars, restaurants and retailers in the UK, as well as Sweden, Australia and Japan.
Cuppaidge said the offer from AB InBev was a rare opportunity, that will allow Camden to go from ‘an outstanding London brewer to a world famous one’.
Camden Town Brewery raised £2.7m ($4m) through crowd funding earlier this year as it launched plans for a second brewery in London.
It says the partnership with ABInBev will support the new facility, which will employ 30 more people. It will also enable the brewer to ‘brew more of its own distinctive beers and continue to innovate, while maintaining its focus on quality.’
The second brewery will also allow it to move all of its production back to London (while canned and bottled beer is produced in Camden, some of its kegged beer is currently made in Belgium).

Camden Town Brewery took to Twitter as the announcement was made yesterday, as investors and craft beer fans quizzed its strategy.
It says that the deal with AB InBev will give it the security it needs to continue with the new brewery.
Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, and the deal is expected to close by January 7.
