KHS to launch new Human Machine Interface at Brau Beviale

Developed in collaboration with the Fraunhofer IAO Institute and the Projekttriangle Design Studio, the new operator system is designed to make it easier to manage and control complex processes.

One system ​

KHS said one of the major advantages of the new HMI is that it combines the operation and monitoring of different machines and production lines into one uniform system.

The manufacturer of filling and packaging systems claimed that this is a first for the industry.

In addition to allowing operators to manage processes through one interface, KHS said the new machine offers other ergonomic benefits including simple buttons, coloured graphics, easily remembered icons and interactive handling instructions.

The new HMI system also allows for the creation of user profiles that can be accessed with an ID card so relevant data can be displayed to specific users.

Red dot ​

KHS said it has been awarded with a ‘red dot: best of the best’ award in the ‘interface design’ category for the new machine. Conferred by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen, the red dot is an award set up to recognise design quality and trendsetting.

More details on the new HMI will be revealed at its launch at Brau Beviale in November. Held in Nuremberg this year, the biannual trade fair is dedicated to the beverage processing and packaging industry.
