Sidel promises to achieve 20% more efficient packaging

The company believes that its innovations can help packagers achieve cuts in bottle blowing costs of up to 20 per cent in addition to 20 per cent increases in blowing machine operating time. Machines on display will include filling solutions for all liquid foods, high-speed shrinkwrapping and palletising solutions and remote services.

Sidel claims it can cut PET bottle blowing costs by up to 20 per cent compared with its SBO Series2 equipment. Three years of intense R&D work has culminated in new manufacturing solutions for plastic bottles produced at very high speeds and ranging from 0.25 L to 3 L in size.

Indeed, the company says that it has specifically targeted the development of full-blown bottle solutions for high-speed applications. Sidel will be exhibiting eight moulds including lighter bottles and new, patented shapes. This new generation of Sidel blowing machines will make its global début at the Interpack trade fair.

At the same time, Sidel​ believes it has reached new heights as it expands operating times on its blowing machines. The streamlined design of this new range has cut format changeover times by 20 per cent compared with the Series2 range.

This new generation is a response to changes in the marketplace where just-in-time production, shorter production cycles, increased numbers of products and a wide variety of sizes, along with more complex packages are all becoming commonplace. In addition to faster changeovers, this new blowing machine generation requires 25 per cent less time for maintenance, which further extends operating times.

At the Sidel stand, two technicians will demonstrate format changeovers on the SBO 20.

Sidel says that its eight filling technologies, on view at the stand, represent one of the industry's most comprehensive offers for all liquid foods. That display will feature a preview of new filling equipment such as the FMw flowmeter filling machine, equipped with 50 rinsing nozzles, 60 filling valves, and 15 capping heads.

The company claims that this machine is built to meet the toughest hygiene standards required for packaging still water.

The GW gravimetric filler is designed for filling oil and sauces. Its extremely accurate filling technology guarantees a standard deviation of less than 0.5 g. The model exhibited has 30 filling valves and 10 capping heads.

Two high-speed shrinkwrappers without sealing bars will be exhibited at the stand. At output rates of up to 60,000 bottles/hour, the TS Evolution 3 shrinkwrapper without sealing bar is ideally suited to markets such as soft drinks, beer, mineral water, and cans.

The all-stainless-steel TSi shrinkwrapper without sealing bar is specially designed for drink boxes and small bottles. It reaches speeds of 24,000 to 36,000 bottles/hour even in 2x2 formats.

Finally, to maximise productivity and operating time on packaging lines, Sidel is presenting its new remote services designed to analyse equipment and get it up and running. Demonstrations will be held at the stand. These services complement Sidel's EIT (Efficiency Improvement Tool) software that diagnoses and analyses equipment production and performance to help maximize overall line performance.
