“In my own experience, you really don’t have too much time at breakfast, during the week. So you look for something that you can consumer quickly but that provides a healthy alternative,” he says.
“So far there isn’t too much on the market. If you take beverages – there’s coffee, fruit juices, but that’s it,” Böhm adds, in this exclusive podcast recorded at Drinktec 2013.
“There aren’t too many other options, and we believe with the concepts provided we can bring some innovation into this category.”
Innovations on display at the BENEO stand in Munich from September 16-20 included an RTD coffee drink with the German firm’s proprietary low glycaemic, functional carbohydrate palatinose in place of sugar – for slower, more consistent release of energy – targeting everyone’s need for energy.
Other concepts include a fermented strawberry ‘shake’ using rice-based ingredient Nutriz – for lactose-intolerant consumers, and a drink with BENEO’s Orafti HSI prebiotic fibers that promises fiber-enrichment and digestive health.
