Cott Beverages hails deal to fortify private label beverages with Omega-3s

Cott Beverages has signed an exclusive contract with Oceans Omega for the supply of omega-3 emulsions for beverage use, with the former hailing an opportunity to fortify private label and control brand products with heart healthy ingredients.

New Jersey-based Oceans Omega has developed proprietary stabilisation technologies (using nanotechnology) for incorporating omega-3 forms EPA and DHA into beverages.

Mike Gibbons, president of Cott's US business unit, said: "Oceans Omega delivers stable, good-tasting omega-3-fortified beverages, which we believe will add value to our product portfolio and our customers."

Benjamin Mamola, Oceans Omega's CEO, said: "Having the opportunity to work with a world-class organization like Cott Beverages is especially gratifying​. Cott offers us the opportunity to deliver our heart healthy omega-3 ingredients to consumers worldwide through Cott's extensive distribution network​."

Cott Beverages parent, Cott Corporation, is a major private label and contract beverage manufacturer, with around 4,000 staff based at soft drink, juice, water and other bottling facilities in the US, Canada, the UK and Mexico. The company also sell beverage concentrates worldwide.
