Coca-Cola Amatil, an Australasian bottler and manufacturer of the soft drinks giant’s products, is reportedly committed to its strategy of expansion in the beer sector, despite playing down possible mergers with brewer Foster’s.

News reports in Australia claim that group chief executive Terry Davis last week announced the group was committed to a gradual expansion in beer production across the region through its partnership with SABMiller. Davis said the bottler was not therefore looking to merge with another company to meet its beer ambitions.

"We're very much aligned in terms of the objectives of the two parties,” He was quoted as saying in Australian newspaper the Herald Sun. "One of those is that it is not necessary to go out and make a large acquisition just for the sake of making a large acquisition.”
